Deana Deatherage was born in Reno, Nevada, to Dorothy (Arthur), an X-Ray Technician, and Tony Deatherage, an industrialist. She is of German, English, French, Norwegian, and Irish descent. Deatherage began acting as a child as a member of the Booth Street Players and Scene Stealers in Reno, Nevada, where she made her stage debut in a production of Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg's "Les Miserables". She appeared in many more productions through her early teens until, at the age of 18, she decided that she wanted to make acting her career.
